Fun at the Zoo

We love going to the zoo, the kids always enjoy watching the animals. We usually go in the morning, but this time waited until Brady could come with us so it was after lunch. Some of the animals were sleeping, but some were very active and it was fun to watch them.

We went with my sister Jana and her family, and we had Justin with us. It was a lot of fun for all of the cousins.

We had not been there since Zuri the baby elephant has been here. She was the cutest elephant I have ever seen. We watched her for along time. Her mama was eating the whole time we were watching them. The zookeeper said that she weighs about 800 pounds now and her birthday is about 5 weeks away. She will be over 1000 pounds by her first birthday!! CRAZY!! We also found out that the mama nurses the baby for 4-5 years...YIKES!!! I am so glad that I am not an elephant!!

There was a zookeeper hanging around the elephant area to give information about the baby and answer any questions kids or adults had. She was very cute with the kids. She got down to their level so she could talk to them face to face. She answered all kinds of questions for our kids and all of the kids around. She was really cute with the kids.

Stopping by to visit the rhinos.

Our group all together, you can't really see him but Jaxon is in the back of the blue stroller.

These guys cracked us up. As you can see this guy is holding his feet and he is totally crashed!! He pulled the bag up over his head and you could see it moving up and down with every breath. He has a friend at the top of the picture asleep the same way!! It was really fun to watch.

Megan chillin with the gorilla!

The whole crew...don't worry, Elaina's dad was behind the gorilla holding her up!!

We always like to measure the kids to the gorilla, Jaxon would not have anything to do with it. At this point he was hot and tired...not a good combination!

Megan, she is bigger than the juvenile sized gorilla.

Dylan trying to stretch to be the size of the adult female.

Kate and Lauryn are about the same size, they are both about the size of a female gorilla...at least about the same height!

After visiting all the animals and having a snack, we ended the day with a train ride and playing on the play ground. The kids had a great time and are ready to go back.
