Christmas Concert and Lunch with Cousins!

We have known since last December that our cousins from South Carolina were going to be coming this year. It started out being at Thanksgiving, but ended up being at Christmastime. We were so excited to see them! We have not seen them since we were at Disneyland last year! The kids have been counting down for months!! Uncle Bryan and Aunt Brandy decided to leave their house a day earlier so that they could be here for the girls Christmas concert at school! They drove their family out here, over 2200 miles!!! Crazy? Yes!!! But we are so grateful that they came and that we got to spend so much time with them!! It was so fun to have them here for the holiday season!

Lauryn has been taking beginning band at school this year. She choose to play the flute and has early morning practices on Monday and Wednesday. She has been really good to practice and is doing a great job!

Lauryn at her band concert...why the big silly bow? Keep reading!!

Both Lauryn and Katelyn joined the schools choir this year. They practice early every Friday. The girls have had a lot of fun with choir and where excited for their concert which was combined with the band.

The girls were asked by the choir to dress as Whos from Who-ville. There are about a million different ways you can dress as a "Who" but because Lauryn had to be conservative for the band part, we had to tone it down a bit!! Of course I procrastinated finding something for them to wear, so at the last minute I ran to the store with my sister-in-law and we found gigantic bows and decided to put them on their heads. Silly yes, but hey, it was last minute! That is all I had time for!

It is easy to pick out Lauryn and Kate, just look for big red and white bows! :)

Brandy told me that she wanted to take her kids to school to have lunch with Lauryn and Katelyn. We kept it a surprise and they were both thrilled!! Luckily they have back to back lunch times, so they are in the cafeteria at the same time. Lauryn got to stay in for most of her lunch recess and hang out with everyone!

Here is the crew. Ella stayed home with me and they took Dylan with them. He thought it was really cool to eat at school. They just grabed a couple of pizzas and some drinks and treats and took lunch with them. I think they all had a great time. Lauryn and Katelyn were excited to show off their classrooms. (The little girl sitting next to Bryan is a girl in Lauryn's class that totally had a crush on Bryan. It was kind of creepy. She kept asking Lauryn if her uncle was coming back to school, and she sat really close to him all through lunch!! Weird!!)

Savannah and Lauryn

Lauryn and Katelyn were so excited to see all of them for lunch!! They had a great time!!

Lauryn's class at school is doing a mystery reader this year. Usually every week a visitor comes to read to the class for 20 minutes! After talking to Brandy, I scheduled our day back in September in hopes that Bryan and Brandy would be here and could go surprise Lauryn. She had no idea that they were coming to read to her class. In fact she really wanted to stay home from school that day and was really mad that I wouldn't let her! We sent a list of 5 clues to Lauryn's teacher that would help the students guess who was coming to read, Lauryn finally got it after the last clue which was "We drove 32 hours to come read to your class!" She was excited that they were there! Savannah read a book, Uncle Bryan read a book and Aunt Brandy read a book!! It was so fun for Lauryn!!! Thanks Bryan and Brandy for making it so special for her!!

What a fun visit! Cassidy started the flute too, but we need to get back on that wagon. It just seems like there is no time. I am glad that Lauryn is loving it though.
